I’m just curious, does anyone else’s Eclipse Cross have fabric in the rear wheel wells? It seems odd and my past vehicles have all had some kind of plastic in that area.
That's interesting. I've just taken a look. I would describe it as a fibre-board rather than fabric. I wonder whether the purpose is sound reduction? I think that road mud might stick to it, but so far mine is clean.
come to think about it, that's great for winters when there's a lot of salt on the road, when it hits the typical thin plastic liners you often hear it.
Has a lot to do with sound deadening. Furthermore, it can be argued that that liner has more durability than polyurethane or whatever polymer mix is in the old liners.
Mitsubishis have had these in some form or fashion for a while now. I know the Evos have em too, but mostly on the top portion of the wheel well. Downside is that if your wheels rub, they do tend to tatter easier than smooth plastic :/
