Hi to all,

I've been contributing for the last couple of weeks since I took delivery of my Eclipse Cross Exceed here in NSW Australia. I thought I'd better finally make an introduction post. I am a long time Mitsubishi owner and replaced my MY16 Pajero/Montero/Shogun (depending on your market) with the Eclipse Cross. Coming from a diesel with a much higher weight and a different design ethos the EC is quite a good drive. My partner has a Subaru XV/Crosstrek and I always found driving that after the Pajero to be quite a change. The 4X4 was intended to tow a caravan but that never happened and we decided to trade the Pajero for something smaller. As a previous Outlander owner I wasn't prepared to step back into that size vehicle again and to get the diesel you have to take the 7 seater here in Oz and that didn't appeal.

Anyway, I have had the EC for just short of four weeks now and have added my desired touches (see the attached pic) to the trim and fittings to a point where I am happy with the looks. I am a driver who prefers a bit of bright work on the outside and the EC did lack that but I've added enough to make me happy.

When I first posted here many noted this site was dead but I make the observation that a user forum only suffers for lack of input from the forum members. I've tried, and will continue to try, to keep my end of the forum bargain and contribute. I hope to chat with you all over the coming weeks and months. Cheers for now...

Looks great, where did you get the door handle covers?

The chrome handle covers on Ali express are all for left hand drive and the key hole is all wrong for us.
AliExpress. The only ones that were marked RHD only. Here is the link:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33006554719.html?spm=2114.13010708.0.0.62584c4denFDCd

MO MO Store is the seller. AU$19.71 for the chrome version (AU$23.40 for the carbon fibre set) and free shipping via ePacket. Got them quite quickly and they fit perfectly...

Any future mods planned?
Only a few interior tweaks. I don't like the beige plastic of the interior roof plastics (lighting and sunroof control pods) so I'm overlaying them with a stainless steel version to break up the colour. Should be here today or tomorrow. Also the cheap look of the door controls with their faux carbon fibre imprint looks bad so I have ordered some gloss carbon fibre covers for the four doors to brighten things up a notch. Same as the gloss transmission selector knob that I fitted. Trouble is finding RHD versions as most of the available stuff is for the LHD market but I found a couple though most were piano black like the rest of the door trim and interior which I didn't want. Other than that I am happy with the look of my EC. First service booked for this coming Thursday. I wonder what they will make off the changes since they delivered it last month. I think they will appreciate the hood support struts during the service...

Here are the interior ceiling trims fitted. Was so focused on fitting them that I didn't take any before photos but you all know that way these look without them. These are clean stainless steel but they also have them gloss painted as carbon fibre or titanium look. The front and rear lighting covers were sold together but, strangely, the rear sunshade control cover was sold separately so it was two orders all up but they shipped together...

You forgot to say where you got them, link please?

I did buy the chrome door handles, however, I am having problems with the seller. They marked them as posted, as there was no tracking I assumed they had not actually been posted. I kept asking them to post them, in the end the seller admitted they were waiting for stock and had no idea when they would get them. They told me to start a dispute and they would refund me, however, you have to wait ages before aliexpress allow a dispute to be started.

I have now bought from another seller, it's hit and miss with these chinese sellers and the systems on aliexpress are not designed to help the buyer.

I've been using these chromed add ons for my last four Mitsi's and have had no such issue. My son still drives my MY12 Outlander with external chrome trim add ons and they show no yellowing or loss of gloss nor any chipping. These items have been in the harsh Australian sun all this time with no problem. My MY16 Pajero has had similar items on it externally for three years and, when I traded it on the EC, it was like the day they were installed.

The only time I have seen chromed plastic exhibit the issues you note are when the item was not designed to be in the weather 24/7. Thanks for the advice though...
