Hi everyone,

I intend to purchase shortly an EC (most probably June 2020). I'm thinking to add following accessories:
- illuminated entry guard (picture attached)
- floor illumination (picture attached)
- electrical tailgate
Does anyone have above fitted already? I'm mostly interested in the electrical tailgate....As it is not Mitsubishi genuine item, will it affect the guarantee?

Any thoughts/advices from EC owners experience are most welcome.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum @Lucian. I initially looked at the Mitsubishi Illuminated sill panel guards (Australian naming convention) but decided against them as they were for the front doors only and got a full set of stainless steel guards from AliExpress at a much cheaper cost:

I looked at the illumination of the interior but decided against it. The electronic liftgate was something I also checked out but didn't proceed with. In hindsight, I don't use the tailgate enough to warrant the expense.

Thanks for reply @Zarb!
I was not aware the genuine illuminated sill panel guards are for front doors only..
Such a pity...The ones from AliExpress looks great. Are you satisfied until now? Any issues with quality (scratches etc)? I have two kids and they are quite careless when stepping in and out of the car.
For the electrical tailgate I fully agree that it is expensive. Still assessing if it worth or not....

But would be cool to have!
Maybe. My wife's Jeep Cherokee has the power tailgate and at times it's a royal PITA. They are slow and very sensitive. I suppose that's to prevent kids and pets getting pinched, but if you have even a light bag of groceries that touch the back panel, it reverses. The gas struts are enough for me. I don't mind having to exert a pound or two of force to open the back. ;)

Welcome to the forums, Lucian. I've never been much for modding my cars ... at least not since the '70s. Now if you want to talk about the old air cooled VW engines... :D

I was only speaking for the Australian accessory but they look the same as the item we have here and are front only. The ones I have are great. They are stainless steel and I have a tendency myself to drag my foot over the threshold when entering and leaving the car but they've resisted scratching so far. They are available in different colours for the inserts and they also have ones which are black. Check the listing to see the variants available. I particularly like the rears plates as they cover the area where kids put feet and the plastic would suff badly but not with the plates in place.

I'd be interested to see your report on the install of the electric lift gate mechanism. If you can take progressive pics as you go through it that would assist. I am particularly interested in how things install as far as the button and the under body sensor if you are installing it. On the EC there is a spare rubber covered button on the left of the tailgate lift button and the right unlock switches. It currently has no button installed and I would be interested to know if the lift gate button would be able to be fitted in that spare left button slot.

Hi Zarbs,
At the moment I'm still negotiating with dealer to get a better offer... Later on, I will ask technical department of local dealer to advise if / how this aftermarket electrical tailgate can be fitted. There are few options on several sites, all varying between 400 and 650 EUR. I read some reviews. Most of them are good, but there are some negative ones. So, before spending the money, I really need some technical advise from dealer.
Anyhow, if I decide to go with it, I'll update gere, so anyone interested to get an idea.
Same for threshold protective sill. Waiting for more details from dealer, as in Europe, it seems that the genuine package contains 6 pieces (4 forward & 2 aft).
I suppose I'll have answer by beginning/mid June.
Regards 😉
