Hi all,

I am constantly on highways and the "adaptive" part of cruise control is very frustrating. It constantly slows my car down when I am not even close to a car in front of me, and then annoys cars behind me because I am changing speed drastically on a highway (especially annoying when done in the over-taking lane). I have tried turning the FCM completely off, and adjusting the distance to the shortest setting. How do I completely stop my car from changing its set speed? I pay attention when I am driving, I do not need nor want this feature.

Do you have any issues with the FCM system? For example, are you getting warnings to brake when no one is in front of you, or a good distance away? If so, I'd ask the dealer to check your front sensor. It could be that there is something interfering with the proper operation. I'd also recommend asking them (and when I say "ask" i mean "demand") if your car's firmware is the latest version.

You can turn it off each time by holding down the button to turn on the cruise control and it will revert to the normal cruise control. When you turn the car on again you will have to hold it down again. It defaults to the adaptive cruise. I used to hate the adaptive cruise. But i actually love it now. Only annoyance now is that i have to remember that my other vehicle doesn't have it so i have to remember to brake in that vehicle.

I am with you, this system is poor and you can not turn it off for good as it will restart as soon as you use cruise again . The book shows how to disable ACC but you can not.
