Apple Carplay convert to Wireless

I have ordered a Vrriis Wireless CarPlay Adapter 3.1 for the Factory Wired Apple CarPlay from AliExpress.
You can read reviews about it on Amazon.
It apparently has no lag when using Carplay. It is only for iPhones up to iPhone 13 Pro Max. I have confirmed with Vrriis that Eclipse Cross is compatible.

Now that the Cigarette socket is working in the centre console I am going to replace it with a new cigarette socket that has USB inbuilt.

That way I wont need the Ainope USB C Car Charger I listed in an earlier post.

I can just plug the Apple MagSafe Charger USB C end straight into the cigarette socket that has USB inbuilt.

Just confirmed last night (twice! LOL) that the rear power socket is ON even though engine & ACC is turned off. Maybe it's a US market thing, mine is a 2019 SEL.

I am almost 100% sure I got power when the ignition was off from the rear console socket. Now I'm only 87% sure. I'll have to check in the morning. Maybe it's the trim level? With the SEL I also have the rear heated seats.
hmmn....my US 2019 SEL (non-touring) only have the fronts heated.
Okay. I may be old and my memory isn't what it used to be, but I am not THAT old that my memory completely fails me or remembers incorrectly. I just checked and the 12V accessory plug on the rear console does remain powered when the engine is off and NOT set to the ACC position. That was the problem I had when setting up my dashcam. I didn't want to wire it into the fuse box, at least not right away until I made sure it was the one I wanted. I also didn't want the wire just dangling, so I tried to run it under the headliner, behind the pillar trim, behind the glove box and under the shroud around the center console to the rear seats. When I saw the camera stayed on 24/7, I switched it to the slightly more intrusive dash socket, which does turn off with the engine.

I have the touring package. I had the sunroof with my Outlander and I really didn't want be without it. If the temperature is above 40°F, I'll open it.

I really don’t understand what Mitsi was thinking leaving the rear 12V socket live.

I guess we are lucky then in Oz that all the sockets are switched and are turned off.

Our Eclipse model in Oz has the equivalent of the SEL with Touring Package without the rear heated seats or heated steering wheel MY19/MY20.

However we get it standard in Oz the only Option is the S-AWD.

yep, really don't understand all those differences here and there....they really differ from market to market aside from in between model trims.

If I were to speculate, I would say the reason for the live socket is ... um ... or perhaps .. uh ... nope, can't think of one. ;)

My WiFi adapter and wireless charger arrived this morning (separate orders but AliExpress combined them to one package at the shipping location) from China. Now to wait for the car to come back tonight to do the install.
I am trying to get the Wireless Carplay adapter to work. Can’t get the device’s Bluetooth to connect to car radio. Can connect to the device’s wifi though.
Hope you have more luck zarbs, let us know how the setup goes.
So I have another vehicle with CarPlay. It's a Maxxus/LDV Trailrider Ute/Pick Up (Chinese) and I plugged the gear into the designated CarPlay port and the setup screen came straight up with the Bluetooth name for the Ute. I opened Bluetooth in iPhone Settings and the Ute name popped up in the bottom of the phone screen. First time I selected it I got a connection error on the phone side. Then I clicked the Search button on the car setup screen (at the bottom) and it went into searching again. When the name popped up on my iPhone I selected it and everything went as expected.

The iPhone came up and asked whether I wanted to connect via WiFi and USB or just USB. I selected WiFi and the main CarPlay screen came up without issue. Music played fine and I ran all my apps and they worked without issue. Apple Maps displayed fine and I also use Sygic GPS navigation as it has all the maps onboard and I sometimes have no 4G connectivity so Apple Maps is useless.

I will try with my EC once my partner returns tonight from our other home and see if the results are the same. The manual included is next to useless as the text is tiny and unreadable. Graphics are worse. I scanned the manual and enlarged it and saved as a PDF and was able to read it on my 12" iPad OK but didn't need it in the end.

The fast charger pad I bought for this worked fine from the USB A port on the Vrriis box as well...

Update - I went back to the Ute and plugged it in and connected to the web browser as listed in the manual. The firmware is up to date which is good. As I was checking the settings as listed in the manual I got a phone call from my partner whilst on wireless CarPlay. Audio quality was excellent and there was absolutely no delay in the voice. To check I went to the phone speaker for audio output and then back to the Vrriis connection and there was no difference in the call quality or transmission delay. Impressed so far for such a tiny box.

Also, once it is set up you no longer need to fiddle with Bluetooth. Once you start the car the Vrriis box pops up a screen with the name of the phone it can see to connect to for wireless CarPlay. I would say this will be good when multiple phones are in the car. I didn't select anything in the list and it defaulted to my phone which was the only one displayed. Music began playing where I left off exiting the car the last time I used it and Sygic GPS navigation popped up as the last used app on CarPlay.

Hi zarbs
Thats fantastic I am so glad it worked. From the Amazon reviews they were really happy too.

Now that you have it working in another vehicle I hope we can get it working on the Eclipse Cross. I am eagerly awaiting for you to set this device up on the EC.😃
So, my EC is back and I can confirm that this wireless CarPlay adapter DOES NOT work with the head unit in my 2019 EC. The head unit reports no phone found and the proprietary setup menus of the adapter never display on the head unit screen as they did with the test in my Ute. I'm lucky that I can use this in my other vehicle but @Ecco may well be returning his.
Oh what a shame, I think I will still keep mine as a Firmware update may well fix it.
One advantage of this adapter - the Chinese display with CarPlay was rather low res and looked a bit dull. The adapter must have its own display format as the car now displays in high resolution and the on screen music controls are slightly different in layout. A positive improvement.

I did log in to the web site and change the operation from Normal to Compatible but this did not change the interaction with the EC.
Yep I tried a few different settings too. Hopefully they will update the devices firmware to support our EC. I was advised on Amazon by Vrriis that our car was compatible.

I know that CarPlay2air are working on compatibility with our car.

This is an email I received from them confirming.

Thanks for your interest in our product!

We are happy to let you know that we are now in the process of completing the test of our adapter with Mitsubishi multimedia systems.

The test of our engineering team is still ongoing for your car.

No worries! I will let you know right away once we are done with the test.

Thank you,

An update regarding Wireless CarPlay Adapters for our Eclipse Cross.

Below is a Youtube video of 2022/21 Eclipse Cross working with Wireless CarPlay

I have contacted & spoke to the Vendor and has confirmed it works. If interested in purchasing their web site is https://smartworldcompany.com

Vendor has not tested Wireless Adapter on 2020 model or below as of yet. Vendor is very open to test so if any one is in Oz and around the Sydney Northern Beaches, Vendor is more than happy to test Wireless Adapter.
