So I have picked up my new eclipse cross exceed. Have only covered 30 miles so far so very much a newby with the car. I have noticed the auto s&g indicator blinks when I first operate the keyless start button but then goes out. The start stop hasn't kicked in as yet, and there is no indication of a fault light on the panel as mentioned in the owners manual. Before making myself look dumb at the dealers, has anyone else experienced this situation with the s&g . I am thinking there are so many variables that have to be satisfied with these systems that maybe I just need to cover more miles and once all rhe variants are satisfied the thing will start to work.
Just noted when I come to a halt foot on brake the auto s&g blinks. But doesn't work. Then goes out when I pull off.
Thanks for your input guys 👍

That's one feature that never made it to the U.S. gladly. My wife's jeep has it an it's a real PITA. If the Mitsubishi version works the same as the GM auto stop then if there's any kind of load on the engine (like a/c) or the battery is not at the top of it's charge, the system won't engage.

Hi, I think it blinks when starting up just to let you know it is on. There are a number of setting when it will not kick in, one being if you have selected the demist button setting on the heater controls, and also I think if the Air Conditioning is operating. Also the engine has to be up to normal operating temperature. It will not operate if your feet are touching the clutch or accelerator pedals, which are very sensitive to the slightest touch, and if it has operated and you touch the said pedals, the engine will start up immediately.
I find mine operates most of the time okay, but on odd occasions does not, for reasons only best known to science.
PS.
There are a row of switches on the righthand side of the lower level of the dash which control the operation of a number of features, which can be switch on or off. You may need to check that the auto stop /start feature is in fact switched on. (Talking UK and Righthand Drive models here. Left Hand Drive, will be different.) T.

Just wondered if when the auto s&g doesn't kick in do you guys find the same situation as me ie a flashing green A with a kind of arrow around it when you come to a halt foot on break. My assumption would be if its flashing when you come to a stop its active but parameters are not all satisfied so wont kick in. If its solid on, parameters have been met and engine will cut out/ start up. But thats just me guessing

I, like @Lunatic59, can't comment as this "feature" didn't make it to Australia much like the manual transmission. I'm not a fan of the function and turn it off as soon as I start my partners car when I drive that. The AS&G system has many parameters that need to be met to activate though. Here are the links to the web pages that describe the operation in detail from the Technical Manual:

Manual Transmission

AUTO STOP & GO (AS&G) SYSTEM<M/T><M/T>

CVT

AUTO STOP & GO (AS&G) SYSTEM<CVT><CVT>

Have a read of the relevant page to enlighten yourself on the operating principles. It also gives a good display of the multifunction display lights and what each means and how to rectify any issues. Check the AS&G System Display Control table near the bottom to see why the light is blinking at startup. The owners manual may have a very rudimentary explanation.
