Never been a fan of top loads esp. with bikes......I like more of hitch mounted platform bike racks.

I have tried different bike racks, even the Saris Bones wouldn't work on the tailgate of the EC....safest way for me was to install a hitch and use a platform rack. Here's my current setup.
For this reason, I bought a foldable bike 
I don't like normal bike carriers as it vibrates a lot and hitch carriers are expensive.
It was better for me to spend the money on a good quality foldable bike to fit inside the car.
