Is anyone having issues with not being able to use the contacts in CarPlay to dial? I have an iPhone (running iOS 14.2) and I can scroll through everything and use the mouse to select for everything except for the contacts. When I click on one, it does nothing.

Hi @suzkperry and welcome to the forums. I was just in the car and used my contacts which I had to access using the trackpad as it wouldn't recognise my speech for some reason. Must have been too early in the morning. Worked fine for me but I am only on 14.1 as the GM for 14.2 is not due until next week. You must have the beta testing copy. May be a glitch with the beta. My partner has the car now and won't be back till tomorrow so I can't doing any further investigation. Hopefully, someone else with 14.2 can confirm there is an issue. Have you installed the release candidate for 14.2 or are you on an earlier beta. The RC is available for download if you are part of the public beta program. I am but haven't bothered with 14.2...

One other thought. Have you tried speech access to see if Siri can help dial the contact? I tend to use Siri for calling in the car. I simply tell her to "Call blah-blah mobile" and she comes back with "Calling blah-blah cellular" and the call goes through.

I am using ios 14.2 and noticed that Apple carplay no longer able to click/push the touch pad to select. I can still move the cursor with the touchpad, just selecting with touchpad no longer works. Do you guys have the same issue?

Having updated to 14.2 now I can confirm that the push to select/activate function of the track pad is dead. I will raise a ticket with Apple to get them to check their end of the chain but it may be an issue with the Mitsubishi side of the house.

This issue is not related to the head unit software version. More like an issue associated with the 14.2 update for iOS. The function was working fine for me on iOS 14.1 before this latest update. Not a big issue for me as I use Siri to dial but the biggest problem is you now need to touch the stream instead of the track pad to select icons in CarPlay. I've made support at Apple aware of the issue but the more affected EC owners that open a support issue the more likely it is to get looked at quickly. You can open a phone or chat session on the Support tab at apple.com in your region.

Mam ten sam problem z EC 2018, nie działa touchpad. Problem występuje na iOS 14.2 iPhone 11 a także na iPhone 12. Kontaktowałem się z Mitsubishi w Polsce i otrzymałem informację że nie jest to wina ich oprogramowania tylko Apple. Podobno podobne problemy mieli z Android Auto.
Resetowanie SDA w EC nie dało rezultatów, tak samo jak reset iPhone. Chyba należy poczekać na aktualizację iOS.

The feedback from around the net is that all iPhones running 14.2 are affected not just older phones. I think your service guys may have had 14.1 or earlier on the X they tested with. I have tested the following iPhones on my EC and all fail to work:

iPhone 8 Plus - 14.2
iPhone XS Max - 14.2
iPhone 11 Pro Max - 14.2
iPhone 12 Pro Max - 14.2.1

We'll have to wait and see if it gets fixed in the 14.3 release...

PS. The OP @suzkperry may want to install the 14.3 public beta to see if that contains a fix. I gave up testing beta versions over a year ago.

Did some further fault finding today whilst out in the EC. One thing I found is that CarPlay does see the button press but does not action the press. If you go to the CarPlay Dashboard, which displays the map along with Siri suggestions and the running apps try this:

Use the trackpad to highlight the Pause/Play button of the Music app window in the Dashboard view. In my EC it highlights in grey not blue. With the button highlighted press down on the trackpad and you should see the button highlight flicker as you press down.

This tells me CarPlay is "seeing" the button press but not processing the action as required further pointing to CarPlay as the cause and not the EC. In the Now Playing screen there is no visual feedback to the button press. Only in the Dashboard.

Sounds all very complex to me. I just use the radio and sometimes the android phone satnav when it works. Otherwise too busy steering around potholes in the road to worry about much else

Ja ik heb hetzelfde probleem nu update IOS 14.2 . M.n. bij het selecteren met google maps t.b.v. navigatie. Selecteren bij radiostation en andere niet apple carplay opties geen problemen. De bug zit dus in IOS. Hoe te melden?

This issue has been resolved with the release of iOS 14.3 today. YT=The button works in all tests I have done on my EC whilst out driving this morning.

Er zijn problemen met de touchpad in IOS 14.2. Ook de navigatie apps werken niet goed. M.n. bij het selecteren/indrukken. Gemeld bij Apple en bij Mitsubishi NL. A.u.b. deze bugs melden bij Apple anders wordt het niet opgelost.
