I don't know who thought it was a good idea to put a touch pad with buttons for the HUD mid center console right above the cup holder...
Invariably coffee or such WILL spill and gunk up the controls.
That's my issue.
I've tried cleaning it with alcohol, letting it soak, it worked a few times.
But now the buttons are stiff and sunk in, I cannot get them to release making my HUD useless.
I can only use the volume control and power on it, I can't use the radio, can't even get to a point where I can get to settings regarding the HUD.
I'd appreciate any advice as it's really annoying.
Thanks for really thinking this out Mitsubishi
Is there any way to disconnect that useless thing that I'm sure nobody ever uses...

I'm asking if there's a way to disconnect the touch pad.
it's on a truly bad place all things considered and oh my, I might have to apologize to the last guy...
ya know, actually using my cupholder for what is designed for. Shame on me.
hit a pothole, have to break a little harder than you like, etc. Who doesn't have an occasional spill of some kind?

Ohh..Dibby...
Once again I bow down to your immeasurable wisdom...
Who would have ever thought of that? INCREDIBLE!
once I finally get this issue solved, I'll be sure to follow your sage advice!
Please, accept my undying gratitude for your astute observations.
My life is almost complete, I think one more insult should do it.
In the meantime, if anyone else has ideas half as productive as Dibby's, I would also be eternally grateful

Are you sure you mean the HUD controls? On my '19 EC the HUD controls are on the left hand side of the dash. The touchpad is only for the infotainment system.

Anyway, if you spilled enough of your drink to gum up the switches, you most likely are going to have to completely disassemble it if you can and even then it might need to be replaced.
