Hi all,
Recently bought an Eclipse Cross (in the UK), nice car, but really struggling with the clutch control and revs when setting off and changing gears.
It's making me lack confidence on occasions at roundabouts etc when needing to pull away.
Stalling or wheel spinning, not ideal or safe.
I can see a few posts about similar things and 2 'solutions' are mentioned:
1. A software update
2. A clutch upgrade
My EC is a 2019 (19) model 3. I bought it from a motor dealer in the UK not from a Mitsubishi dealer.
Does anyone know I still able to get the upgrade and update as I didn't buy it from them directly?
Sorry if that's a silly question

Thanks

Hi Rich,

I've got the same issue on my 2019 EC and have a warranty claim in at the moment.

You're still covered by the manufacturers 5 year warranty I believe, so get in touch with your nearest approved Mitsubishi Service Centre / Dealer.

My one no longer sells Mitsubishi, but they have a 10 year Service obligation.

Tell them, you cannot pull away normally uphill and from junctions, (where it makes this problem dangerous) you have to over rev and then all of a sudden the clutch bites with boost and you shoot off!!
Please could they contact Mitsubishi Technical on behalf of your warranty, as you understand there is a reflash for the throttle controller and a modded clutch cover plate that cures this.

Update:
Took it in this week, they've said they will put the modded clutch in, ordered it and might even be the end of this month!
Suprised, I was expecting a battle, I have noticed since that it sometimes won't go into 1st and 2nd and I need to pump the clutch to get it in, not ideal, see if this makes any difference to that too.

Update: had the clutch replaced and software updated on Thrusday last week.

It has improved drastically. The revs no longer fall off everytime you lift the clutch in gear its like a new car.

However!

Now I cant get into first or second gear without a very big battle. Especially wht's cold.

To the point where I've had to pull stop and been stuck for couple of minutes because it just won't go into gear.
Going to ring them in the morning because the car is sometimes actually physically not drivable. Didn't have an issue before the change last week.

See how that goes haha

I now have the new gearbox fitted under warranty, it is definitely better, the gear selection has no play, but cannot be hurried, it is tight when cold, but has improved over the last 50 miles to be precise and slick.
As for the pulling away issue, I've found that new Denso Iridium Spark Plugs have improved the low rev power noticeably, so improving clutch control when pulling away.
