Hi All
Had the PHEV 12 month service (travelled 6000km) and couple of days later developed an unusual noise coming from left front end passenger side (right hand drive vehicle) when in electric mode. Engage drive and once movement commences (forward or reverse) a noise develops that initially sounds like a pump starting and quickly levels out to a continuous buzz like noise which does not change at any speed (very constant). Once the vehicle stops the noise abruptly stops. Tried all combinations of EV, econ etc and does it every time. First start of the day it takes a couple of minutes before kicking in. Has local Mitsubishi stumped at this stage and the dealer not getting any useful advice from NZ head office.
Anyone experienced a similar issue.
Cheers

I also wondered if it was associated initially, but been ruled out by Mitsi as it stays on all the time when moving at any speed and totally different sound. The pedestrian alert is working Ok. One thought is some sort of cooling pump gone faulty but just a guess at this stage. Appreciate your comment, cheers.

My guess would be one of the wheel speed sensors out of whack causing ABS to engage.

Thanks for that. There is no braking as such but I don't really know much about how ABS works
Just an update. Mitsibushi have located the problem. Apparently there are two pumps associated with the transmission. One is to pump the trans fluid, the other is to cool the transmission when in EV mode. Our problem was the EV mode cooling pump.
Regards
