I just purchase a 2022 eclipse cross. I haven’t even owned it for 24 hours yet and so far it has done this three times. I am driving alone I have my seatbelt on I am not departing lanes, I am not about to crash into anything. Out of nowhere this extremely loud ding ding ding will happen. Three dings that’s it. No warning lights nothing on the dash it’s so loud that it’s startling. It’s not beep beep beep like the blind spot it’s DING DING DING!!!! I need this to stop! Help!!

As a check, leave your seat belt unbuckled as you drive away to see whether the sound you hear is the same as that which you hear for the phantom alert. As a test, buckle up the passengers seat belt to see if the sound is eliminated. May be a faulty sensor.

Not sure how the US models differ from other geo's as far as seat belt warnings are concerned. My view of the US PDF manual doesn't mention nor show the rear passenger warning light on the dash as we have in Australia (see pic). Plus, I don't know what many have changed with the new model you have.

For Australia, the rear seat warning will illuminate every start and, if someone is seated in the rear without fastening the seatbelt, a warning (same as the front seat DING) will sound if the vehicle moves off and the seat belt remains unfastened. This is a weight based alarm so can be triggered by a weight on the rear seats. The warning will only sound once for the first start of the trip and then not come on again unless the vehicle ignition is turned off.

Not sure if this alert system is installed on US builds.

This is because of the built in navigation! I was having this issue also. Go into your navigation settings and look for warning signs. The car is beeping to let you know of upcoming red light cameras etc. turn the warning sounds off for those! It’ll be gone. Believe me I had a heart attack every time.

This is quite possible. Our earlier models only had CarPlay or Android Auto supplied SatNav. The new model has it built in. Our Subaru Crosstrek/XV does the same thing with the navigation when approaching curves and such things as railway crossings. Follow @Sicoupe06 suggestion and turn off the warnings in the navigation settings.

I have a 2022 with Nav and never had this problem since day one. I'm curious about this and will see if I can replicate this issue.

Had the same issue, going to try disabling the Nav warnings and see what happens. With these cars being so new I didn't think this forum would have existed yet!

It’s probably a red light camera. I hate it. Still trying to work out how to turn it off

Just adding for confirmation for anyone who is having this issue-have purchased a brand new 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and the 3 Very loud out of nowhere dings-that give you no watnings...no sign...no message display or anything IS from the navigation function...the red light alerts...speed zone alerts etc....they are all going to be activated...you will need to go tk your Navigation.....go to your little round settings tool icon and click on it and then pick sounds anf warnings....that will take you to each alert and you can shut them all off or pick and choose which alerts you want to keep on. I promise this will work and it is a life saver!! Just keep in mind the ones you keep active are going to go off when applicable and out of the blue as thry are warnings for you!
