My car has been delivered today and very impressed with things apart from the HUD.. The Speed is reading totally wrong.. Although the unit states MPH the speed appears to be KMH.. I washed doing 30 MPH according to the dial bit the heads up was showing 50 MPH.. Anyone know if you can change the unit reading? Anyone else had this?

well apparently this is a known fault and a campaign recall is in place - so the car was delivered to me with an outstanding issue - I have arranged to have a software update carried out this Friday - fingers crossed

I have received my brand new eclipse cross today, love it, however the HUD .. though it popes up does not display anything .. its just a piece of plastic for all intents and purposes ??
I have looked at the manual in the vain hope of finding some settings for it, maybe it needs " Turning On " .. so before I phone the dealer ship and make an ass of myself .. am I missing some thing with this HUD
Look forward to your comments :)

Read your manual again and you will find that there is a button to turn it on.

Then again, just watch this:

Hud

I know where I went wrong .. I found the button ;) hence the HUD popping up .. but the reason I could not see anything .. when I lowered my head to the steering wheel, I could see the display on HUD .. observing the rocker switch to the left of the HUD button .. I pressed down and noticed the HUD .. tilting back .. hey presto ... line of sight was the issue ... also going back to what some else wrote ... the display on the HUD is slightly .. leaning to one side .. but not an issue .. over all .. very happy with new machine

Hi I'd like me when I tried the heads up I couldn't see anything till I put my head down a bit then I could see it. So to the right of the steering wheel you have a row of button one of which has a up and down arrows next to the HUD button by pressing the top arrow it should tilt the screen back so making the screen info viewable.
Hope this helps

I had this same problem when I first got in my new EC. HUD was as low as it would go. Found the switch to tilt it up. I wish it would go a bit more. I have the seat all the way down and all the way back and I have to slouch just a bit to see it. Dealer said this is a known issue for taller drivers.

BTW, the button right next to those one with a windshield/windscreen with a sun on it. This is for the brightness of the HUD. At night I have to turn this down or its a bit too distracting. For all the other dash lights, I need to find out to dim those. Haven't found out how yet.

Tall drivers cannot use this HUD because it cannot be adjusted for heir height – This is a known issue, but no-one is trying to fix it. This is not the answer that I am expecting from respectable manufacture.

My seat is as far down and back as it will go. I can not sit normal or the speed would be half cut off the top of the HUD. It's just not designed for taller people. I am 6' (183cm), anyone taller may as well leave the HUD off.

Hi, any chance you could give me a bit more information on your problem with the HUD? Plus the dealership that mentioned to you about the problem with taller drivers? I bought one last year and no matter how I adjusted the hud, I couldn’t view it properly. So I made a complaint and handed the vehicle back having had it less than a month. Still fighting about it now with the financial ombudsman etc

Hi, any chance you can give me a bit more info about the problem with the HUD, where you bought the vehicle and what has been done about it etc? I bought mine last year, couldn’t read it properly before I got out the showroom, mentioned to salesman. Told take it away, will look into it. Apparently no further adjustments available on hud. Made a complaint and told them within a week returning vehicle. They told me to keep hold of it, however returned before I had it a month to comply with consumer rights act. Still fighting now, any help would be appreciated. I’m 6’3” and my top half of body is longer than bottom half. So for a tall bloke have to sit a bit closer and can’t see the hud properly.

I gave up with the dealer and played with the seat adjustments until i was able to see it. I have the seat back tilted back a bit more and the steering wheel pulled out to me all the way. I can see the HUD fine now. Just need to play with the seat and the wheel placement until you find a comfortable position that you can see it.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. However, does that mean in your normal original driving position
you couldn’t see the HUD? In order to see the HUD, you have had to give up your preferred driving position and re-adjust your seat and steering?

This is correct. I like to sit a slight bit more upright but have gotten used to the new position.
It seems Mitsubishi has no plans on making any changes to the HUD for taller people. It is, to me, a defect in design.
Once the warranty is over, I will probably find how to adjust the arm that connects to the tiny motor for the position making it longer somehow. I wouldnt mind going back to normal seating position.

Can you tell me where you bought your Mitsubishi? did you mention it to the dealer at the time and if so what was the reaction, or what did they say?
i am in dispute with the finance coy and garage about returning the vehicle and all evidential points you can give would be helpful.
thanks
