Sounds like you might have a loose heat shield on the exhaust. Fairly benign, but really annoying.
Thank you. I hope thats the only reason.Sounds
Im gonna try and record the sound if its not coming from the heat shield.anything
What would be cause if the sound is coming from the fuel pump? I using the car for 9 months and i just heard the sound like 2 days ago. I really hope that its just the heat shield. There's not a whole lot going on at the rear of an Eclipse Cross at idle. It can really only be the exhaust or the fuel pump. An exhaust noise would be about the same from both sides and the exhaust pipes follow the center line of the car. The fuel pump would be louder on the side with the tank.

Thanks! The sound is consistent. I will go and ask dealership to check where the sound is really coming from. I dont like driving unnecessary sound. Its just so annoying. Thanks for the inputs. Really appreciate it!A loose heat shield or broken mount is going to be a buzz or a rattle set up by harmonic vibrations of the engine. The fuel pump can be a lot of different noises. If you can consistently get the noise at idle, ask someone to rev the engine a little to see if the noise changes or disappears at higher RPM's. If the noise stay constant at a higher rev, then it's probably the fuel pump. It might be loose in the tank, or a piece debris stuck in it, or even a failed bearing in the electric motor. If you suspect the fuel system, I'd take it to the dealer and let them sort it out.
Thanks for the info. Just curious why It just started 2 days ago, i owned that car for like 9 months now.operation
Any possibility that the alternator bearing is wearing out or worn out already? Thanks for the info. Just curious why It just started 2 days ago, i owned that car for like 9 months now.
I have this aerosol release like sound coming from the rear left side, just next to the tyre.
It is the fuel pump!
Nothing abnormal apart from the sound.
Waiting for the new pump to arrive and dealer will replace it under warranry terms.
It will take some time though, with the COVID-19 supply chain disruptions.
Hi, jancarlo, When you first heard the noise, what was the fuel level in the tank. I'm just wondering if this would have any bearing on the noise from the pump. It should not really have an effect, but just a thought, that if the fuel level was low or near empty, this might have had an affect and caused the noise from the pump. Good to read the noise has disappeared now, and lets hope it stays away..Hmmm.. I think it really is the fuel pump. It is louder at that same spot. Do you always hear that sound every time you drive? I haven't heard the sound for 3 days already. i hope it wont come back.
Hi! I remember i still have 3/4 in the tank that time. I had a 1/4 tank fuel this morning and luckily there is no sound. I really hope it will stay that way.Hi, jancarlo, When you first heard the noise, what was the fuel level in the tank. I'm just wondering if this would have any bearing on the noise from the pump.
