I just purchased a 2019 Eclipse Cross SEL S-AWC. This is my first vehicle with AWD and my first SUV in many many years. I was just curious as to if the vehicle usually sounds loud when hitting 50, 60, 70 mph? I can't explain the noise but like a humming ish sound (sorry I know this doesn't help) I feel like it's coming from under the hood. Like I said this is all new to me but it's all I can hear. Is this normal? Is it because I'm not used to it? My car was sooo quiet and now this I feel like I made a mistake purchasing it :(

you have to remember that having a 1.5 liter engine, you hit past 2000 rpm when you travelling at those speeds thus engine may sound louder as it may seem. The turbo only kicks in at 3500rpm. That's the big difference if you have a V6 & up 3.0 liter engine vehicles.

Just curious, does it matter if the windows are open or closed? I only ask because the wind buffeting is horrendous on this vehicle in certain open window configurations.

Does it really take until 3500 for the turbo to kick in? Because if so then I’ve almost never used it then.

On a recent 500 mile round trip from home down to and back from the Manchester UK, I was agreeably surprised on how well the car performed at motorway speeds and how quiet it was with no wind or engine noise. My is a manual transmission so maybe it is something to do with cvt transmission causing the noise. My only complaint would be that some road surfaces do cause more noise in the cabin than you would like. Something for Mitsubishi to work on for the future models.
