Since purchasing my (first) Mitsubishi I tend to be on the lookout for them on the road and on the TV, especially adverts.

Over here in the UK, Mitsubishi are fairly prominent sponsors of Rugby Union, they sponsor a number of teams and have large ads up at the grounds but as far as TV advertising goes, virtually none.
Even more surprising (I think!) is WHAT they are NOT advertising when they do. Their most prominent advertising that I've seen is as sponsors to a series on Channel 4, Secrets of The Valley of the Kings. Here, they appear at the start of the ad break and the end advertising the Mitsubishi L200 and occasionally the ASX but NEVER the Eclipse.

Seems very strange as the Eclipse is their newest model and is supposed to appeal to a wider audience.
Anyone got any insights into Mitsubishi's advertising rational?

I'm from the US and so Mitsubishi isn't as big of a thing here. I also don't have cable tv so I don't see advertisements but I also didn't know about the Eclipse Cross until I dropped a friend off for service on her car at the import dealer and saw the Eclipse Cross. I haven't seen online adds, magazine adds, billboards.... Nothing. I would be curious as well to know thier marketing plans.

When the Eclipse Cross was launched in 2018 I recall seeing quite a few broadcast ads. The major thrust of the campaign was to test drive the vehicle and less about features. I don't recall seeing to many ads for ANY vehicles recently and the ones that stick out are luxury brands like Lexus, Audi, Mercedes and Range Rover. That said, Mitsubishi has a huge presence on social platforms like Instagram, Facebook and Youtube (sponsored reviews). Perhaps broadcast media is going the way of print ads.

Mitsubishi Australia have many of the their ads that feature the whole family but they have an EC specific ad that plays quite regularly on free to air and cable channels. We are coming up to end of financial year in June and they run ads every year at this time with deals. Wonder how COVID 19 will affect that marketing. I was in an Aldi car park today and was one of three EC in the small area.
