My son lived with his English wife in Kent in southern England and they had an American fridge. Because of the climate the need for a large fridge was never an issue in the past but now more large fridges are being bought and they refer to them as American fridges because of the large size (what we called a bar fridge was the order of the day). I though it odd the first time I heard it there. We have a two door fridge with ice maker and chilled water here but it is not seen as an oddity. A chest freezer - now there is a good place to store a body...What makes a fridge/freezer "American"? Large enough to hold a body?
