Hello everyone,

I have a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder Convertible and I wanted to change the head unit to a more modern touch screen. I want:

When I start the car it should connect to my phone and give me options to lauch my favorite podcast app etc.

When I reverse the car it should show me what is behind my car

When I switch the side blinkers show what is to that side of me

If I can get radar warnings etc. when I try to change lanes and there is car next to me then great

I understand that all of these would require different components but any idea as to how I could get started on a project like this? Should I just go to the nearest body shop and ask them to get it done or buy components on my own?

Thank you!

Ummm... you may want to do your research on www.club4g.org instead of here.
That's the message board community for the 4G Eclipse, not the 1G Eclipse Cross ;)

In a nutshell, the simple parts list to fulfill what you're talking about requires:

  • 1 Aftermarket head-unit
  • 1 Aftermarket replacement dashboard mounting plate/kit for your HU
  • 3 exterior cameras (one rear, one each for the side of the vehicle)
  • 1 proximity / parking sensor kit
  • Custom wiring and panel molding - which is not something anyone can teach in a minute (and one that I'm not really willing to talk about, sorry. Google it.)

Good luck.
