Thanks for having me here!

I'm looking for a new SUV since my old 2013 Outlander is not getting any better over time:). It was my first Mitsubishi and I enjoy it so much that I'm definitely getting Mitsubishi as my next car. So, I went to Mitsubishi's official website to check out new Outlander PHEV when suddenly found this amazing Eclipse Cross. Thus, for now, I have these two cars on my mind and I still not sure which one should I pick.

Welcome.

How soon are you looking to buy and what exactly are you looking for in an SUV? Seen that you're looking at the PHEV model so if hybrid is the way, you might be in for a wait on an EC PHEV.

If you get the PHEV, make sure it has the 2.2L, and not the 2.0L that's currently offered between the 2018-2019 MY in the USDM. For that you'd have to wait for … yes, next summer in the US for the 2020s :)
Europe and APJ both have the 2.2L already, which has the better Atkinson cycle engine (with 1/5 L more displacement) and TCU programming that allows for a more appropriate "sport mode" than that of the Cross.

As for the Cross with a PHEV model --- they say they want to. But I doubt they'd move as quickly to "eclipse" the PHEV so soon. (yes, pun intended.)

FWIW, go rent an Eclipse Cross from a car rental place first for about a week. Doesn't matter if it's the top trim or the mid-tier model. Just make sure you get one with the CVT.
Then compare that to your Outlander and see how you feel about the driving.

I'd love to hear your opinion on it.
