Remote start app unlocks doors

New to the forum but had an odd issue that is annoying me. When I use the remote engine start it unlocks the doors also. So car is running out front with the doors unlocked. Granted, if you open the door it sounds the alarm and turns off the engine. But depending on how far I am away from the car at the time, I may not be able to get to it before someone is able to grab things out of the car and take off. Also, when I approach the car if I hit the unlock button on the remote (to keep alarm from going off) it turns off the engine and then I have to get in and start the car again. I just feel like this can't be "as designed" and it must be some setting somewhere but I'll be dammed if I can find it.

Hi and welcome to the forums. Are you using the Mitsubishi Connect app to remote start your car? The only thing I can think of is that if you have your car set to auto unlock while in park, the remote start might trigger it.

Yeah I called and finally got someone from the connect app side of the company who walked me through a setting on the app that controls the remote unlock. I have an appt with my dealership for my 1st oil change on the new car on saturday and hoping they can go in and set the setting for the auto lock also for when the car starts moving. Saw people on here talking about that and how it can be set with the ODB connector and the dealers tool ,
Auto locking .... sigh. I'm not sure that's part of the U.S. firmware. We've had discussions about it before and it's enabled in countries where it's mandatory, but even though it's listed as an option buried deep in the advanced diagnostic settings, enabling it doesn't always work. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Yep, Here is the relevant info from the MUT customisation page regarding doors and locking/unlocking. Notice they refer to a deadlock function also:

UPDATE - I had memory of hearing a click when I moved to P after stopping but, as I never manually lock all doors and auto lock on drive is not enabled in Australia, I didn't think much of it. Anyway, I just tested it on my EC. I started the car put it into D and locked all of the the doors with the central lock button on the drivers door. I then selected P and all doors unlocked. So Australia does have auto unlock enabled if doors have been locked by the central switch or if an individual door has been locked by a passenger. No auto lock though...
Im having the same issue, im a new owner of a 2022 EC. I'll start the car from the app and when I unlock the car it'll turn the engine off. Is there a solution so you dont need to start and then restart the car over and over?

Nope. It's a security thing so someone else can't jump in the car and drive off.
