What makes you ask the question George.
Must say that I have not noticed anything, but do not rely on the hill assist system working and have not tried it out in practice.
Whilst auto stop/go (ASG) is not offered in Australia I do use the Auto Hold function regularly when driving in heavy stop/start traffic. On the occasions when I don't use it I find hill assist does work but prefer the Auto Hold. I just wish it was possible to enable it all the time and have it persist rather than disengaging every time the park brake is activated. I would surmise the hill assist would kick in when you stop and the ASG would kick in once you apply a harder braking force. Try a few test stops on a quiet street with a slope to get comfortable with the activation process and progress to steeper slopes as you become confident in its activation process.
FYI: Stop/Go, Start/Stop.
If you find yourself at any time needing the engine to restart before you release the break, just turn the steering wheel a small amount. This will trigger the same as releasing the break. This also works using auto hold.
