Unable to turn off front and/or rear fog light

I am driving a 2018 Eclipse cross and all was good until recently I used my fog light. In the past I was able to turn it on and off normally but now I am unable to turn it off after turning it on. The only way it will go off is when i turn off my engine.

Even when I am using automatic headlight with the fog light in dark places, both the front leds and fog lights will turn off when I enter a bright place but both will turn back on when I enter a dark place i.e. tunnel.

Anyone experiences this?

Nope, never seen that, but I don't use my fog lights that often. Sounds like either a bad switch or a bad relay to me.
Weird. Sounds like the responsible ECU is out of whack. A visit to the dealer may be in order to get the ECU reset. You could try removing power from the systems by disconnecting the battery for up to five minutes to see if they reset once power is restored. Don't leave it too long or other issues may crop up because of the extended disconnection. Sounds similar to an issue that @52Traction encountered with his auto lighting after a repair. Turned out the battery had been disconnected for a long period during the body repair that caused his issue.

I'm also a 2018 EC owner from Taiwan and i found that when i was unable to turn it off immediately, try keeping turning it off more than 3 seconds and miracle happened lol...Pls reply if you find it useful.
Had the same issue once but never had it again after turning the engine off and on again.

I had what I though was an issue, but I realise that its wired and operate slightly different front the asx.... i believe the addition of the rear fog light changes the whole dynamic of the light switch operation.... the dealer weren't even sure how its operated and claim that it was just an reflector however the same switch operate both front and rear fog lights... there's actually 2 fog lights indicator in dash gauge (green n orange) showing when they are on ...
On first attempt to turn on fog light the front fog will turn on, On second attempt the rear fog will turn on also.
Most case while this was happening we were unaware as it was behind and we were in vehicle it was very confusing until I had a someone to watch the rear fog light to see when they came off or not... to get a clearer understanding how they work...
Turning knob/switch 1 time forward turns on fog light, 2 time forward the rearfog lights will turn on.
Now the front fog light won't turn off unless you turn off rear fog light first, then you can attempt to turn front off. otherwise you will be entangle in a 2nd tier function of the same switch.
However once you dont enter into this 2nd tier of switch function the switching on and off front fog lights will be normal.
The lights turning on and off in dark and on in well lit areas are a function when headlight switch is on auto feature.

M fog lights comes on when I have my headlights on auto, I tried turning on and off the fog lights switch but for some reason my fog lights are on the same time as my headlights. When I manually turns headlights off so does the fog lights. Is that normal?

I dont believe your fog lights comes on by default once headlights are turn on when in auto mode....however the latter function of turning off with headlights is normal.....
Maybe it's some feature in etacs coding where fog light function can be tied to headlight...
But question....if you turn on headlight switch on (not auto) does fog light comes on just the same?

Yes, it does, that’s what confusing to me cuz when I turn on headlights manually the headlights itself and the fog lights comes on

That’s not a normal function right?

Nope... but I also find it hard for it to be an electrical issue as fog and headlight circuits are totally independent..... the etacs is where it can be programme to operate like that.
1 Do you have an independent switch for fog on headlight switch colum?
2 can you see the fog lights indicator display on dash front fog (green) and rear fog (orange)

Does your control look like this..... fogs switch is the inner ring switch.... headlight outer....( right hand drive model)

I am wondering if you are turning both at once.
Also u can notice the double arrows for fog switch meaning you would need to turn switch twice in order to turn on and to turn off.
You can also try turning on park lights only and then try turn on front and rear fogs.
The control is a bit unusual but try and see if they comes on with headlights off

Yes, I have an independent switch for fog lights and the fog indicator does come on when I turn it on and I don't think my car is equipped with rear fog.
I also tried turning my on my park lights only then fog lights but fog lights does not come un

Ok well something is wrong... fog light should come on when its switch on when park lights are already activated.
When you tried to turn on fog lights with park did the fog dash light display?
Otherwise I would believe that both fog and head lights are program to operation together and not independent...
For example; in etacs program, there's an option
1...to marry the daytime running light with headlight
2...option for fog lights to operate as day time running light (which means they will be on once vehicle is started)
3...as well as day time running light to operate independently. (Which is option on the higher spec)

I believe there are many more options relating to fog lights and other lights and very likely can cause the common switch operation that you are having.. so its not a fault but setting from factory due to low spec model.
I doubt the dealer would adjust this setting... so you would have to seek an programmer to make adjustment making fog feature independent from headlight.
I will go back through list of feature otpion and see if I can narrow down anything that has to do with fog light.

I also tried with just the park lights on but fog lights didn't come on. I just talked to the guy I dealt with from the dealer and he did say what you just said, newer cars like Eclipse Cross operate as day time running lights as well. And thank you for all the help.

Not sure of this, but to operate the front Fog Lights with the Side/Parking Lights on ( no headlights on) the ignition needs to be switched on also. If the ignition is not on the fog lights will not function.
I'm going out to the car now and will check this out. In Great Britain it is illegal to switch on your fogs except in poor visibility, foggy. thick fog, or falling snow conditions. So here the fog lights do not come on automatically with the headlights.
Many markets do not have the rear fog light specification. It very much depends on the various Countries different Construction and Use regulations, as to what is allowed or required on your car in meeting the different regulations for lighting, or otherwise, for Countries throughout the world.

Right just checked through the function. Firstly the ignition is not required to be on to operate the fog lights.(had cars in the past where this was required) Switch on side/parking lights, operate fog light switch. one movement forward, front fog lights on. Move fog light switch forward again, rear fog light now on. To switch them off, move the on/off fog light switch rearwards in two stages to turn the fog lights rear and front off. Lights on the dash indicate which lamp is illuminated. Green = Front fog lights on. Orange= Rear fog light on.

In the U.S. there is no rear fog lamps, and there are no regulations that I know of about when you can use forward facing fog lights. Of course, vehicle code is at the state level so it could be different in some states. As for my 2019 EC SEL, the fog lights work exactly as they did on my Outlander. To turn them on, the headlights must be on at the low beam setting. Then rotate the switch forward to turn them on, backwards to turn them off. If you switch to high beams, the fogs will turn off and come back on when you switch back to low beams. If you turn the headlights off, the fog lights go off too. If you turn the headlights back on, you must use the switch to turn the fog lights on. They do not come on automatically.

I could not find anything in the manual about automatic settings for fog lights. If your fog lights are coming on automatically with your headlights, something is connected improperly.
