hi all, took delivery of my18 eclipse cross 2 weeks ago. Love iit except for onboard head unit refuses to connect to my android 8.0.Have tried 5 different usb cables and spent hours researching this. Other than that, just wish I could have afforded an awd model if i could actually find one.
anyway, happy new year to all, got a lot of reading to do.
cheers

Welcome aboard. Steve(gabe) ;)

Did you install Android Auto on your phone and accept all the permissions?
Hi Lunatic et all, thank you for the welcome. Yes I gave all available permissions, have uninstalled and reinstalled AA at least 6 times, been reading every available post I have found on this topic and just stumbled on this site and am amazed at all the good info on here. Still lots of reading to do though.
Every time I try to connect AA ask me to enter the pass code (for BT) but my phone does not open the keyboard so I cant enter it. AA does recognise my phone(doogee s55, android 8.0). I have tried to update to android 9 but the phone keeps telling me no updates available and as I am not a techie I cant root my phone.
Anyway, decided to buy a refurbed samsung s10e and will give it a try after i get it setup, just arrived today and ordered xmas eve. Awesome service rom three.sons on ebay btw.
Will update when I have any more news.
Wishing everyone a better new year than the one just passing.
cheers steve(gabe)

Hi DibbyDibbyDJ,
Thanks for the responce. It seems I have bought the wrong model, I have an S10e, so I might be back to where I started but I will try it out. What a bummer grrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!
I might have to use the doogee just for nav because of bigger screen but that will mean another sim plan just for nav, crazy, I thought all sS10's were compatible.
anyway happy new year all
cheers steve

A warm welcome to you and hope you are enjoying your Eclipse Cross and have many a happy mile with it.
I find the phone connection a bit difficult also and since buying a new cable it now at least connects okay.
Still find the navigation a bit hit and miss, but being retired do not need to use that aspect very often.
Best wishes and compliments of the Season to you and yours.

Hi all,
happyness at last. As previously posted I bought a refurb samsung s10e, android 9 and not on the mitsi list. However as soon as I set up my s10e it downloaded android 10 and I thought this should work, but no luck. The phone came with a cheap charlie usb-c cable when I tried that, still no go. I had previously bought a braided usb-c cable for 10 bux at a cheap charly shop and as soon as I connected that it all came to life, now have BT and USB through the head unit with nav and phone connect. Only downer is, cant listen to radio at same time as nav, but should be able to sort something .. So, sorry about the verbosity of my post but what a great way to say goodbye to this horrible year we have had, drought, then floods then covid. I just hoppe it gets better and the world gets covid under control.
Happy new year to all and I hope my posts have been some help to someone out there.

Hi all,
anyone know the difference between the ya and yb editions of the my18 and on. Both seem to have awd as an option, although I have not been able to find an awd in any but the exceed edition, so what is differebt in them?

Hey Dibby, hope you are ok and not in fire/flood/drought/covid. Sorry I am still learning my way around the site and couldnt find a way to start a new thread.
cheers
steve
