When accelerating I can hear an annoying 'zinging' sound coming from behind the centre of the dashboard (sorry, best way I can describe it). Like a very rapid metal ticking sound that stops as soon as i release the accelerator. Very pronounced when quickly accelerating, but still present even at lower speed accelerating (although it doesn't happen 100% of the time, but around 75%). very strange

Could be something with the turbocharger. Does it start at a specific rpm on the tachometer? I'd suggest taking to the dealer so they can have a listen, and at least get this on record in case it leads to a necessary warranty repair.

I will keep more of an eye on the tachometer and also record when it happens to gather more evidence

Is the noise staying at the same level, or getting worse. It may a loose fitting within the dash area just picking up some of the engines resonance, but it must be annoying. Best to keep an eye on things and arrange an early visit to the dealer to ensure your piece of mind. Get them to check there is nothing serious going on, and it will also allow them to fix the issue.

I also have the same problem. Have you figured out what caused it as well?

It sounds like detonantion (pinking or pinging) . Check your oil level and refer to dealer. I have heard of a few cases here in Australia, and suspected it had something to do with our poor quality fuel here.
